A study in 2000 found that among 12,986 middle-aged African-American and white men and women, those who rated high in traits such as anger, but had normal blood pressure, were more prone to coronary artery disease (CAD) or heart attack.

And the angriest people faced twice the risk of CAD and three times the risk of heart attack compared to subjects with the lowest levels of anger.

“The angrier we stay the shorter we live!” says Michael Bauerschmidt, MD, MBA and Medical Director Full Potential Health Care, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Mike practices Functional medicine – a personalized medicine that deals with primary prevention and underlying causes instead of symptoms for serious chronic disease.

Dr. Mike reveals to Human Behavior Expert Patrick Wanis, PhD the ways anger triggers the Fight-or-Flight response, exhausts the Adrenal Glands, creates Oxidative Stress, ages the body and can kill you. Dr. Mike also explains the effect of anger on Neurotransmitters and its link to depression and other disorders. Dr. Mike and Patrick Wanis PhD reveal techniques to handle anger (including instances when the Fight-or-Flight response are triggered), what to do when you feel a surge of anger and why exercising when you are really angry is dangerous.
