How Dads Inspire High Achievers And Highly Successful People

It is common to see many successful people having been born into success; to have been born in a family that gave them every opportunity where they also had the support, connections and money to achieve a great deal of success.

But what drives successful people to go even further?

What drives high achievers to even try to excel their already successful family? What prevents them from becoming lazy and spoiled even when we are born into money and wealth? What drives them to continue to quest for more success, more creativity and more contribution?

“Dad often is the primary role model and impetus for success -or not” says author of “Get What You Want!”, Human Behavior Expert and Life Coach Patrick Wanis PhD.

“When people born into success and money decide to achieve even greater success and fame, the relationship between son and father or daughter and father is often very strong and close whereby dad is the mentor, example or the hands-on teacher” according to Wanis. “However what drives the children most to succeed and not become lazy or spoiled is their own personal drive for ambition often coupled with a psychological profile of independence and determination; the desire to make their own mark and sometimes to prove that they can do it on their own.”

Billionaire, media and real estate tycoon, Donald Trump chose his father as his mentor and they worked together for 5 years but Trump has an assertive independent streak that led his parents to send him to military academy at age 13 in the hope that he would learn discipline. Donald Trump also has a competitive streak and that is what drives him to excel beyond his father but we cannot forget that as in the case of most high or over achievers, there is the subconscious desire and drive to get dad’s approval or to meet his expectations by not only becoming like him but by becoming even more successful than he was.”

“Famous actress, Kate Hudson was never close to her birth father but the man that raised her, actor Kurt Russell definitely had a great influence on her: Kate Hudson named her son’s middle name “Russell” after Kurt. Hudson learned her charm and inherited her creative streak from her mother, actress Goldie Hawn. Hudson describes her mother as “the woman that I’ve learned the most from, and who I look up to, who has conducted her life in a way that I can look up to.” Interestingly, Hudson is dating famous cyclist and athlete, Lance Armstrong, who is more than a survivor, he is a strong, ambitious winner who like her father is very independent and whom she can respect and admire. But like her mother who is also recognized for being a hippy and slightly rebellious, Hudson is launching eco-friendly hair care products this year.”

“Famous actress Tori Spelling still strives to match her father’s success. Like Donald Trump and Kate Hudson Tori enjoyed a very close and working relationship with her father, famous TV producer Aaron Spelling. At the time of her father’s death she was estranged from her mother who was the executor of the family’s $300 million estate. It is reported that Tori only received $800,000 from the estate. Father Aaron said Tori has a strong work ethic: “She’s more determined than people realize.” And just like Donald Trump, Tori has used both sheer will and money to transform herself inspite of scathing attacks by critics. Tori publicly often makes more references to her father than her mother. At her wedding she said: “My dad was so cute – he was nervous…He kissed me and, of course, he stepped on my train.” Tori admits that her relationship with her mother was not good: Referring to the VH1 Sitcom which she produced and starred in So NoTORIous, as a fictional version of herself, Tori said, “I like the mother-daughter dynamic on the show, because I think it’s a difficult relationship, and that’s something my mother and I have always shared. But that should never be taken as ‘we don’t love each other’.”
