“Teach respect for other people’s faiths and end the obsessive and dangerous attempt to please everyone by being perfectly politically correct by rallying to stop the use of the word Christmas ”, says Patrick Wanis, a Human Behavior Expert, therapist, life coach and author of “Finding God -Spiritual strategies to help you find happiness, fulfillment and inner peace.”

“Yes, it is “Christmas” -the official holiday. First the name does not cause changes in people’s behavior and will not coerce people into becoming Christian. That concept would be akin to saying that on Martin Luther King day we will all change our racial identity. Coercion does not originate from a title, it originates from threats, intimidation and acts that inspire fear in people. A name in and of itself has no power. Second, if we are to change the names of all religious celebrations of holidays in order not to offend or coerce anyone into conversion, should we then rename Hanukah, Yom Kippur or Ramadan? If we are to change the name of the Christmas tree, should we then rename the Jewish Menorah to Candelabra?”

“We would better serve our children and citizens by teaching respect for other people’s faiths by honoring the titles and names given to those events or sacred days.”
